Annual General Body Meeting of MOGS and Installation of New Office-bearers 2020-21
The AGM and Installation Ceremony was held online via Zoom platform in view of the prevailing Covid-19 restrictions (Lockdown) on 31st May, 2020 at 10:30AM, followed by a CME/Panel Discussion on ‘Coping with Corona Pandemic’.
The Meeting began with offering of Condolences and a minute of silence in honour of the Departed members of MOGS- Dr. R.S. Mahale and Dr.(Sr.) Lilian Sequiera. President Dr.Vatsala Kamath welcomed the gathering and gave a brief overview of the previous year’s activities. Dr.Vidyashree Kamath, the outgoing Secretary, presented the Minutes of Previous year (2019-20) which was passed by everyone. She also presented Secretary’s Report for the year 2019-20.
Dr. Nishita Shettian-Fernandes, Treasurer, presented the Statement of Accounts for 2019-20. She apprised the AGM about the current status of the Franklin-Templeton MF investment done by the Society and the unfortunate decision to wind down the six debt-funds by the MF recently. Dr Vatsala Kamath informed about the ongoing efforts by the investors as well as regulatory bodies like SEBI, RBI etc. to recover the monies of the investors. It was decided to form a sub-committee comprising of the outgoing President, incoming President, Secretary and Treasurer to monitor the recovery process from FT mutual fund. A resolution was passed by the AGM to continue the current Auditors, namely M/s Rajesh Kini to audit the MOGS Accounts. The Statement of Accounts was proposed to be accepted by Dr Naveenchandra Nayak and seconded by Dr Veena Bhagawan and passed unanimously.
Dr. Prema D’Cunha, Election Officer, declared the names of the incoming Office-bearers, who were chosen unanimously for the ensuing year 2020-21. She announced the names of the incoming office-bearers and congratulated them. The in-coming President Dr Prasanna Kumar Shetty, addressed the gathering (see Presidents address) followed by the Chief Guest, Dr.Vasanthi Shetty’s address.
Dr. Aparna Rajesh, incoming Secretary delivered the vote of thanks. Dr Alveera D’Souza, compered the whole program in a commendable manner.
The AGM was followed by a Panel Discussion moderated by Dr.(Prof.) Priya Ballal, H.o.D. of OBG, KMC Mangaluru. The esteemed panel of speakers included Dr.Selvamani, CEO, ZP, Dakshina Kannada Dist., Prof.(Dr) Sandeep B Rai, HoD, Pediatric Surgery, KSHEMA, Mangaluru, Dr.Deepak Shedde, Consultant Obstetrician, Mangaluru, Prof.(Dr.)Muralidhar Pai, HoD, OBG, KMC Manipal, and Dr.Bhagyashree, Consultant Obstetrician, BC Road.
