Minutes of the first Executive Committee meeting held on 13-04-2018, Friday at 8PM

Minutes:

President welcomed the members and made introductory remarks recalling the previous year’s events mainly YUVA Ksoga meet and hoped that this year too the new Team will make valuable contributions to MOGS.

It was decided that the April Academic meet will be on 27th Friday, to be hosted at Hotel Ocean Pearl with Dr.Rajiv T.P., Prof.& Head of Urology, KSHEMA, delivering a talk on female urinary incontinence issues. It was also decided to present a memento to Dr. Prema D’Cunha as a felicitation for her role in Yuva KSOGA 2017. The President also proposed to arrange talks by Govt. doctors on various important topics like KPME Act, PCPNDT Act, and MTP Act etc. Dr.Ashok, RCH Officer, and DHO have agreed in principle for the same and the specifics will be worked out soon. Also, the emphasis of academic programs will be on postgraduate teachings and at least 2-3 PG forums can be held, to which all the members agreed.

The topic next discussed was about the criteria for felicitation of senior Gynaecologists during the MOGS meetings. It was agreed on that one of the important criteria was that such members must be over sixty years of age, be member of MOGS and must have done significant contributions to the society and also the community at large. It is necessary that the consensus of the Executive Committee must be unanimous. One of the names suggested tentatively by June end, was that of Dr. Arun Rao.

The President suggested that MOGS should strive for higher visibility among peers, society and media in a positive way. MOGS members must come forward to participate as faculty in State and National Conferences and also become members of Committees of KSOGA, FOGSI and be in Govt Committees. CMEs in various medical colleges may be done in collaboration with MOGS. It was decided to recommend the name of Dr. Sneha Rajiv, as faculty from MOGS to YUVA FOGSI meet at Vijayawada to be held in September 2018, if no other names come up from other members before 20th April.

The President suggested the following sub-committees in MOGS. Medico-legal: Dr.Amritha Bhandary, Dr.Deepak Shedde, Dr.Prema D’Cunha and Dr.Naveenchandra Nayak and suggested that the tenure be for 3 years. Media and Public Relations: Dr.Prasanna Kumar Shetty and Dr.Sharon Rasquinha; Laparoscopy: Dr.Vatsala Kamath, Dr.Manjunath Kamath and Dr.Sujaya Rao. All the above committees will be under the purview of the MOGS Executive Committee.

Dr. Alvira D’Souza was found not to have renewed her membership of MOGS, hence the Election Officer had recommended that her name cannot be proposed for membership in the Executive Committee and the necessary changes were made in the office-bearers list. Dr.Lavanya Rai’s membership was accepted by the E.C. and secretary was directed to do the needful once the required fees have been received for Life membership.

The President urged the members working in various medical colleges to motivate their PGs to join MOGS as Annual members, as many as possible by January 2019.  Also, increase in membership fees was also proposed. It was proposed that the Annual membership fee be increased from Rs.2000/- to Rs.2500/- and Life membership from Rs.13,500/- to Rs.15,000/- from the next year. Dr.Vatsala requested the E.C. members to create awareness about the financial condition of MOGS, so that this membership fee hike be passed in the next AGM. It was also decided that MOGS money must never be used for alcoholic beverages during any of its meetings.

The President proposed that bulk SMSes be stopped and all communications may be sent by Whatsapp or emails. She directed the Secretary to see that only MOGS members are included in the official Whatsapp group of MOGS and update the member’s list. Communications to senior citizen members may be preferably by phone and AGM, Election Ballot papers will be sent by ordinary post.

The E.C. was still undecided about MOGS website and whom to give the contract to. The quotations by Mr.Anand Bhandarkar was still being looked into and madam President elaborated the structure of website and its integration into social media as well. Dr.Prema D’Cunha, past President, has suggested MOGS to apply for FOGSI prizes, and the President said she will look into it. President thanked the members for their attendance and reminded everyone to cooperate with her in starting the meetings on time.
